Recipe for a perfect long run...

Take an extremely long and stressful week full of potty training, appointments and too much laundry to mention, add in a surprise package in the mail filled with long run fueling treats
and decide to get up long before the sun and run and run and run in the dark towards the beach.
Turn off your headlamp and enjoy having the entire pacific coast to yourself and run until the sun finally starts to come up.  Then take a break and take some pictures... of the sunrise
of your shoes looking out towards the ocean...
of the ocean from the sand dunes...
 of the completely deserted coastline...
of the ocean erasing your run happy sign and getting your shoes wet...
of the sand dunes and sunrise to your left...

and the beautiful Pacific Ocean to your right...
then reluctantly leave the beach behind as you head back towards your house...

Finally, realize that your picture taking expedition took enough time that you should probably pick up the pace a bit, if you want your husband to make it to his morning meeting.  Send him a text that you'll be there in time and receive what you will adopt as your new running mantra in reply:
Use those words to propel you up and over the hills that lead to your home and finish with probably one of the best 20 mile runs you've ever had.

If that wasn't good enough, then take your kids to the library, where your oldest daughter points out one of Pre's best quotes.  Perfect end to a perfect morning.

Love it! Love it all! You rocked that long run! The beach is one of my favorite places to run. While I think you are so lucky to have that opportunity right outside your front door, I still think the trails of Eugene would be happier to see you here! ;-) Run happy...run strong...and don't be a hill-walkin' crybaby!
