Inspire: Yurbuds Review & Giveaway!!

I don't listen to music when I run.  Wait, let me rephrase that, I didn't used to listen to music when I ran.  I didn't feel the need to and I was either running in the dark by myself, with a running partner to talk with or pushing my kids in the stroller.  The rare occasions that I have run with music, I usually end up spending more time adjusting my earphones than running and end up frustrated.  Then along came Stanley, my new best running friend, that although produces "artificial" running miles allows me to get a lot more running in.  I love him, but, no offense to all the die hard treadmill fans out there, treadmill running is kind of amazingly tedious.  I can get the miles in, but they tend to drag on if I don't have something to distract myself.  Now, thanks to Stanley, I not only listen to music when I run but I also listen to podcasts and watch shows, like Sex in the City (which is a lot more colorful on HBO Go then it was as reruns on TBS).

Luckily for me, about the time that Stanley entered my life, so did these amazing headphones... the Inspire for Women headphones from Yurbuds.
When they came to my door, I thought I'd try them out for a run and haven't looked back since.  I. am. in. love.  (Wow, Dan's got lots of competition... first it was the treadmill, now the earphones.)  Once they're in, they seriously do not fall out, nor do they move or need any adjustment whatsoever.  They really are that great.
This particular line of yurbuds, is designed specifically for women, with a smaller size and what some might consider girlier color options.  (Although, I have to admit, I caught Dan wearing them while he was putting in some artificial miles and he didn't look any less a man in them.)
They have a nice soft silicone lining and a really cool "twist lock" technology that keeps them in place.
I'm also a big fan of the fact that they claim to be sweat and water resistant (i.e. sweat and rain are a go... swimming, probably not so much).  This appeals greatly too me because I get extra sweaty on the treadmill and if I were to ever run in them outside, most likely it would be raining and it'd be reassuring to know that my earphones could stand up to all the Oregon Coast has to offer.

As for the sound quality, I really have no complaints.  When I was watching Sex & the City, I actually heard a bunch of background noises on the show that I thought where my own kids, it was that lifelike.  (No, not too many kids on that show, but they happened to be sitting near a playground.)  Music and podcasts sound great too.  I think if I were to turn them up loud enough, I'd even be able to drown out my kids fighting over toys in the background and asking me when I'm going to be done running so they can "run" on Stanley too.

If you'd like to get your very own pair, they are currently up for grabs at Target where they retail for $29.99.  OR if you'd like, you can try to win your very own pair right here.  The lovely folks at Yurbuds were kind enough to provide me with an extra pair to giveaway.  Lucky me & lucky you!

All you have to do, is follow the Raffelcopter directions below.  Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.

Disclaimer:  I was sent a pair of Yurbuds free of charge to review and given another pair for a giveaway on this blog.  All opinions are completely my own.

I would love a pair that don't fall out every time I turn my head, cough or even sneeze. These look great. Thanks for sharing.

They look great! I recently bought a new pair and I don't really like them, I would love to try these.

thanks for offering the giveaway! i love working out to music and constantly fiddle with my headphones (clearly they're not yurbuds :) )

and one more comment (rafflecopter said to add this one) -- i'm not sure i have a must-have song for running, but speeding up during the "dog days are over" chorus still gets me pumped

I have never run listening to anything. Partly because I have nothing to listen to and partly because when I run outside I like to listen to the birds and other nature sounds. However, If I had cool Yurbuds I would have to get something to listen to. :o) I would probably like having music while I run. I think it would make the time go faster.

I don't really have a song that I can't run without (since I haven't ever run with music) but Marci's song for Hippie Chick - "She's Got Legs" always pops into my mind when I run.

Sometimes I listen to podcasts- it depends on what type of run I am doing and where. My earphones lost their rubber pieces when one of my kids pulled them off, so I could use a new pair!

I do the same thing. I listen to music on days that I'm forced to the treadmill because of small children.

My current go to running song is the fighter by gym class heroes. Love!

My earphones are constantly giving me grief too. I'd love to try something that works!

I listen to music on my long runs, but the earphones that came with my iphone are always falling out or killing me (when I mash them in out of frustration). These would be great!

I like music, haven't ever tried podcasts. It's great for when I get mentally tired. I just skip forward to a song that makes me want to dance and it's easy to keep going!

I absolutely listen to music when I run and especially on the treadmill...you have to have something to distract you! I did recent training run with my siblings where I stopped at mile nine and turned around and ran one mile back home alone...into the wind, and without music...yuck! Made me realize how much I enjoy the tunes!

I only listen to music occasionally when I run because it seems I always have to stop and adjust the earphones, music, etc and then I just get annoyed! I will have to try the Yurbuds! Thanks for the review!

I listen to music when I am running, it helps me keep moving!

All time favorite running song, Girls Just Want To Have Fun. Love the 80s!

Whitney said...

I like to run with music when I'm running on the treadmill because it helps break up the monotony. When I'm outside, though, I don't listen to music often so I can pay attention more.

Allyssa said...

I love music when I run! It keeps me moving and some songs are enough to increase my pace. I also have trouble keeping normal headphones in my ears so I'd love to give these a shot!

Allyssa said...

Favorite running song: Eminem's One Shot. I just like it's beat and the words can kind of be running/training motivated too!

Heather said...

I want to try them! I think I've bought every style of exercise headphones known to man. I'd love a pair that does all the things you mentioned!

Heather said...

Oops--guess I was supposed to mention whether or not I like listening to music/podcasts when I run. Yes--almost always (unless I have Laurie along so I have someone to talk to instead!) I love music while running because in my mind I'm almost positive all the lyrics are about me and running..."I'm bringing sexy back..." or "I just wanna run..." or "My heart skips a beat..." or "Get your (self) back home..." or "another one bites the dust..." Yep! I can make EVERY song about me and running in one way or another! :)

Hmm -my last comment didn't work.

I would love to win the earphones - one less thing to worry about while I'm running and watching the Ducks. Watching the Ducks means jumping up and down and texting Daniel. Good earphones would be one less thing to worry about. :)

Favorite running song - Nickelback - I Wanna Be A Rock Star.

Ooo These would be perfect for me to work out in at the YMCA! I currently don't have a pair. And the look awesome!!

Stephanie said...

I would definitely be listening to music. I don't really have a workout song. But if I have internet connection I love to listen to Pandora.

Alaskan Runner said...

Thanks for the review! I saw the Yurbuds at the Nike Women's Marathon last month and wanted to try them out! I am definitely a music runner! Pandora, my ipod... you name, I love it.

Tortuga_Runner said...

Thanks for the review, I got to the NWM marathon late and couldn't demo a pair. I hear great things, but have been afraid to drop $30 if I am unsure. I hate the my earphones slip out when I get too sweaty. I listen to music on the treadmill to help me with my intervals.

Tortuga_Runner said...

I am not sure that I can't live with out it, but Hey Ya by Outkast, especially the shake it like a Polaroid picture part makes me want to run fast.

Nicole Varn said...

Oh good earbuds are so hard to find! I've always been a little nervous to spend the money on headphones because I typically hate the pair I got, but after trying and hating so many maybe it's time to invest (or win :)!) If I'm not pushing my lil man in his stroller I LOVE to listen to music when I run! My true ATL roots definitely come out when I run because any fast tempo rap (a.k.a. Pitbul) definitely keeps me inspired for short or long distances!

tri like mary said...

Like you, I listen to music on the dreaded treadmill (or dreadmill as I call it). Mostly because I cannot find earbuds that will stay in! Especially when I get sweaty.

Stephanie said...

Wow, neat, Laurie. I'm game. I listen to music. And as a matter of fact, my old skull candy buds are getting RUSTY due to sweat. Definitely could use a new set. :)

Ama_Runs said...

I find listening to music while I run too distracting--I want to dance! and it throws off my form and concentration. So sometimes on my long runs I listen to podcasts. Feels like I'm running with friends! :)

Laurel C said...

Podcasts are AWESOME to listen to when you run!! They make it go by so much faster and I always learn something :)

Laurel C said...

Oh, and as for music.....I love anything country!

Ama_Runs said...

Instead of a song, can I mention my favorite podcast? I love Trail Runner Nation. Super informative and inspirational, plus those guys crack me up. :)

Gabby Sida said...

All the time. It helps me keep pace. During a race, I set up my playlist so that the first few songs keep me going at a regular pace, and towards the end I load it with one or two faster songs. You could be mine by Guns N Roses is one of my favorites.

Gabby Sida said...

Since I mentioned my one song on my last comment, another song that has always been on my race playlists is ABC by The Jackson 5

evelinruns said...

I always listen to music when I run.. Thinking about it I haven't done one singe run without my Spotify running with me.. :)
I get motivated and when the running gets tough I focus on a song and I tend to forget the sore muscles or heavy breathing. Great!

evelinruns said...

The one song that I'm always listening to when I'm out running is: Starfucker - Girls just want to have fun :)

Rain said...

I don't listen to pod casts personally or music...but I bought these for my husband for his bday and he swears by them

therunningjewess said...

I'm in serious need of a pair of headphones that don't fall out! I've been training for some longer distances and love to listen to embarrassing pop music.

Brooke Kendall said...

I always have music. In fact I ran a 5k last weekend without because of pouring rain and couldn't believe how much more effort it required!

Brooke Kendall said...

I can't get enough Eminem when I'm running. The raw emotion echos mine!

Kristin said...

Yes, I almost always listen to music when I run.

Recently I've been enjoying the mumford and sons songs.

I always used to listen to music, but stopped when my ear phones started hurting my ears and falling out in the rain! I've never tried podcasts.

Corrina said...

I have the regular version of these--and they are too big for my ears. I want to try these so bad!!

Right now, I can't live without Girls Rule the World!

I am going to have to try these! I love listening to podcasts when I run, but I keep frying the ones that come with my ipod.
