Mizuno Mezamashii Run Project & Giveaway!!

Currently, Mizuno has this awesome campaign going called the "Mezamashii Run Project".  In Japanese, "Mezamashii" means "eye-opening" or "brilliant" and the purpose behind Mizuno's campaign (besides to sell shoes of course) is to "...help create a more euphoric running experience - a more "brilliant" run - for more runners everywhere. "

You should know that I'm a sucker for anything running (big surprise, I'm sure).  This is especially true when it's running matched with cool scenery/music/calming voices.  I don't know that I always buy into advertising, however, I'll admit, the following video really makes me want to put on some shoes and run through the woods and in the rain and up some steps and through some puddles... really it just makes me want to run anywhere and run fast and maybe even run in a pair of Mizuno shoes.

Mizuno feels that "mezamashii" is "...a word that captures the euphoric feeling of a brilliant run."  They also "...believe their shoes can help runners achieve this mezamashii feeling more often..." I have never run in a pair of Mizuno shoes, so I cannot tell you if that is true.  I am however, about to find out because the kind folks at Mizuno have chosen me to be one of the first 600 founding members of the Mezamashii Run Project and will be providing me with a free pair of Mizuno running shoes!!  I was super excited to receive a hand addressed invitation in the mail inviting me to redeem a code for a free pair of shoes.  When life gives you free shoes, you take them and say thanks because, hey, free shoes, what's better than that?!

So, I spent a lot of time (and by time I mean days, really weeks) on Mizuno's website trying to figure out which pair I would like to try out (partially because they have a lot of sweet looking shoes to chose from, but mostly because I tend to be a tad indecisive).  I finally decided on the new Wave Precision 13, because I think everyone should own a pair of bright pink & neon yellow shoes (technically the colors are "electric/lime punch/dark shadow"), that and they seem like a pretty decent lightweight performance shoe.  (They're currently on back order, but as soon as they come, you better believe I'll take them for a run and let you know what I think.)

I'm really excited, and you should be to.  You should be excited for me, because you like me so much and you're happy for me and my free shoes... but really, you should be excited for you because Mizuno and their Mezamashii Run Project want one of you lucky readers to have a free pair of shoes too.  Unfortunately I only get to give one pair out, so I can have only one winner and you can't all be lucky, but it doesn't mean you can't try.  You can however, visit the Mezamashii Run Project website and apply for an invite of your own.

Because it took me so long to choose my shoes and I didn't even realize that I had an additional pair to give away time is of the essence... the free shoe coupon will expire on July 15th, so we best be getting busy.  To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post with a haiku describing what you consider to be a brilliant run.  Really anything goes as long as it is in the haiku format of 5,7,5.  For example:
To qualify, you must, must, must follow the format.  5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third.  Check it several times... say it out loud, clap the syllables... do whatever you need to to make sure you've got it right.  This will not be a random drawing.  Incorrectly formatted haikus will be disqualified. (Hooray, I finally feel like I am putting my English degree to good use.  Ha!)  I will have a panel of non biased judges (most likely my oldest two children and my husband) chose what they consider to be the winning haiku.  The contest will end at midnight (PST) on Tuesday 7/10, and the winner will be announced, on this blog, Wednesday 7/11.  Again, the code must be redeemed by the 15th, which is why time is of the essence.  Good luck,  I can't wait to read your poems.

Disclaimer:  I have not yet received free shoes from Mizuno but I will receive a pair shortly.  I have also been given the opportunity to give a pair away. I am not being compensated in any other way for my review and my opinions are strictly my own.

Running fast, faster
Smiling kids, triple stroller
Pushing self and kids

I may be crazy, but i love taking my 3 kids with me on runs. There is something about hearing them sing and yell mommy faster that makes my runs wonderful.
