Some days...

  • it's okay to blow off your run even though you are already dressed for it and instead just lounge around in your running clothes.
  • it's also okay to play Mario Kart when you should be feeling guilty about not running and at the very least be cleaning up from breakfast.
  • it's okay to have a left over chocolate cupcake for breakfast... and lunch.
  • it's okay to let your little one sit on the floor and eat an open faced peanut butter sandwich with a heart drawn on it, just because she feels like it.
  • it's okay to not brush your teeth until after lunch.
  • it's okay to change out of your running clothes that you never ran in and go directly back to your jammies.
  • it's okay to read a magazine while sitting on the floor in the sunshine because you know that sunshine won't be there long.
  • it's okay to laugh at all the toys/crumbs you notice under the couch while sitting on the floor and think about how you should move the couch and sweep but realize that isn't going to happen today.
  • it's okay to see an Athleta add in your magazine of a beautiful person running on a beautiful beach and think, "someday that will be me" but not feel bad that you skipped your run today.
  • it's okay to just be... lazy... unproductive... restful... peaceful... just be.
There is always tomorrow...

That's right, Laurie. There IS always tomorrow. But before you know it you'll wake up one morning and realize that you're 57 years old, and you're running OUT of tomorrows...that they're turning into yesterdays. I'm not saying that it's not okay to be "lazy...unproductive...restful...peaceful..."...you of all people deserve some of that. Just understand that before you realize it Emme will be 32 and she and your 4 other wonderful kids will have families of their own and YOU'LL be wondering where all the tomorrows went.

Sorry for the novel...I'm feeling kind of morose today. Love you. (And if my comment posts twice I apologize for that too...I'm having issues with my Gmail.) :)

Amen, Sista. I need to stop being productive and have a day like yours. Sounds WAY more fun.
