Return of the Mole People

It looks like we've finally hit summer here in the Willamette Valley. What, it's officially been summer for a good solid 3 weeks now? Hmmm, sure hasn't felt like it. That being said, today's expected high is 88 with the next 10 days hanging around in the upper 80's, low 90's. You know what that means? Time to take our house back into hiding and return to life as mole people. No, not THESE mole people and no, not THESE ones either, nope just your typical mole people (I talked about them once before a few year back, if you're interested click HERE), that cover up all their windows and walk around in virtual darkness in an effort to keep the inside of their home slightly cooler than the temperature outside. It really isn't a very efficient way of "air conditioning" but blacking out the sunshine along with running fans in the early morning is the best we can do in our non-air conditioned, big picture windows facing in all directions the sun shines, rented home on a college student with 4 kids budget. Some day, we'll own a house. It will have air conditioning. We will rejoin society in the summertime and let our appear to harbor life. Until then, the mole people will reign supreme...

As for running, I took an unplanned rest day yesterday... too much 4th of July I guess. However, today was a scheduled rest day that I was able to use to make up yesterday's missed run, so no harm done. I can't believe it's July already. With several birthdays, checkups, family parties and the Bar exam (my poor, poor husband) it should be a busy month.

Mole people! I laughed so much as I'm sitting in my dining room with all the drapes closed, just hoping the temps inside stay down for a bit longer! Here's to summer finally being here!

To be honest, those temps look fabulous. Hovering around 101 - 104 today her in RVA... Of course, we do have AC, we didn't always though. Good luck, mole person, and good luck to both of you on the Bar (as the spouse & the tester).
