St. Patrick's Day

We've decided that since Dan's family comes from Ireland that we are going to go all out for St. Patrick's Day.  This year, we didn't decide it until a couple day's before, so it was hard to go all out, but we will do it in style next year.  (I've also decided that when we have another child, we will give it a middle name starting with an O so that it can be Liam O. Higgins or Maggie O. Higgins for, we probably wouldn't use either of those names, but you see what I'm saying.)  Anyway, it's been a struggle getting on the Internet, so several days delayed, here is our St. Patrick's Day, in pictures:

Emme made decorations
(try not to discredit her for the backwards S & P's...she gets in a hurry and doesn't think)

This is the "Leprechaun Trap" we left out the night before.
Apparently, if you make a trap and put some money in the bottom of it, you can try to catch a leprechaun.  If he does happen to get away, he will leave necklaces and socks.
(Emme's friend from school, Sophia, told her all about it...again, next year, we will be more prepared...)

Here is our green breakfast, complete with green eggs, green pancakes with green syrup and green apple juice...lots and lots of food coloring, made for green tongues too!
Emme, ready for school...Calvin happy to see her go...
My girls...
For dinner, we went all out with Corned Beef and Cabbage, potatoes and Irish Soda Bread.
Since we don't drink and they don't make an alcohol free version of Guinness, we've got a fancy red root beer and more green apple juice for the kids.  (I don't know, green milk might be pushing it a bit too far!)

So, there you have it.  We had a fun St. Patrick's Day and did a few traditional Irish things...and our house still smells slightly like cabbage to prove it...

So how did the kids like the cornbeef and cabbage? Bren liked the cornbeef this year - neither of them dig cabbage, but at least I can say that I did my "Irish duty" and tried. he he Looks like it was a fun day. :)
