Pumpkin Carving

Last night we carved our pumpkins for halloween. First Emme and Calvin drew faces on their pumpkins, then we let them scoop out the guts. Emme actually enjoyed this part (it's so slimy!) however Calvin didn't want to have anything to do with it. I then carved Emme's "princess pumpkin" to the best of my ability and since Calvin's face was more...well lets call it "a bunch of scribbles" we made his pumpkin into a silly/scary face per his request. After pumpkin carving, we watched Charlie Brown's "Great Pumpkin", which (since it was animated) the kids enjoyed. It did however make for a much later night then they are used to so we're getting a much later start this morning. We have plans to go running and we'll probably stop at Albertson's on the way back to get more Halloween candy (we opened ours too early) then lunch and naps to prepare for a big night of trick-or-treating. Emme is so excited, she can't wait to find out "what kind of candy I'm going to get!" They have been trick-or-treating around the house all morning, collecting all sorts of goodies (toys, dirty clothes, napkins...you know the usual "treats"). We'll keep you posted.....
